18 Hr Tuna Trip today. Left the dock at 12am, worked our way around some thunderstorms and got out to the canyons safely. Took off first for the Wilmington, no tuna bite. Afterwards ran to the Spencer and loaded up with 74 Mahi, all sizes from chicken to 20 lbs. Had some guys spearfishing them off the boat as well. Great day!

Today was AC's Airshow... what a great show! Some divers and fisherman came out to enjoy the ocean and show. Seas 1-2'. We visited the Astra at 90' for the first dive, surface viz was terrible... 1ft, but after the thermocline the viz opened up to 30-40'. Absolutely beautiful. Second dive we hit the Lemuel Burrows at 80'. Surface viz again was not good but after the thermocline it opened up to 30'+. Tons of flounder caught on the LB and a good amount of lobsters. We'll be eatting good yet again tonight.

Night dive with East Coast this evening. Seas 2'. We visited the Almirante. Surface viz wasn't that good but once you got about 20' down, it opened up to roughly 30' of horizontal viz. Can you say LOBSTER? Lot's of them all over the wreck, itchin' to get out before it even got dark.  Great night for diving!! The sunset was beautiful followed by a breathtaking full moon.

Wreck fishing today on the Lemuel Burrows.  Landed some nice keeper flounder, seabass and tog. Also had a lot of short flounders.

Left 12am for the Wilmington today.  Seas were 1-2 ft, occasionally 3ft. Beautiful day in the canyons besides the tuna bite. Chunked for a bit when we got there then began trolling early morning. Had a White in our spread that hit a green machine. No tuna action, unfortunately. We got some nice size Mahi on lobster pots then stopped by the Varanger for some wreck fishing on our way in. Came home with Mahi and Ling.

We had a good day tuna fishing yesterday. Headed out to the Wilmington where we released a White and caught some Yellowfin. Caught Mahi on the way in and out. Also stopped by a wreck on the way in and snagged some Cod. We'll be eating well this weekend :) Going out again on Monday for another tuna trip. We will post details ASAP.

We visited the Varanger today.  Always a pleasant dive! Viz was nice at 30ft. Water is still cold on the bottom, 45 degrees on the bottom. Seas were 2-3ft on the way out and completely calmed down to Lake Atlantic. Scallops, Lobster and Ling a'plenty!

We had a good day fishing in 100' of water. Caught 10 keeper seabass on average measuring 15". Drifted a wreck on the way in resting in about 80'of water. We caught 4 keeper sea bass off the wreck on the way in. Overall calm seas and a good day!

Anchored up on the John Marvin this afternoon.  Seas were 2-3', occasionally 4'. There was a fair amount of surface current which made it challenging getting to the bottom.  Viz was good, 20'+. There was some surge to keep you on your toes but none the less, another great addition to our log books. Northeast diving is where it's at!

Visited the Almirante with East Coast Diving Supply today. It was a little squirrly going out due to severe thunderstorms the night before but the seas cleared up pretty quickly.  The Almirante sits in 60-70' of water.  The bottom temp was a bit above 50 F... Viz was 30'+, GREAT day for diving.  TONS of lobster and a lot of flounder around the wreck.  Today was such a joy to be Northeast wreck diving!

First 18 hour tuna trip of the season! Fished the Lindenkohl with some beautiful weather.  Seas were flat, 1-2' if that. What a great day for tuna fishing! Had some whites in our spread in the morning. Steady bite during the day. Landed 6 Yellowfin, a Skippy and a White marlin.

June 2011
We encountered some great diving towards the end of June. Water is warming up and the viz is becoming unreal. 20-30+ days are becoming more and more frequent. Get out diving!

1st Dive trip of the season! We visited the Lemuel Burrows. Surface temp: 55 degrees. Bottom Temp: 41 degrees.  Seas were 2-4 ft with SE winds at 10-15 kts. The visability was 5-10ft but became clearer once off the bottom. Speculation is viz was probably better on different wrecks such as the Almirante or on some deeper wrecks. We saw some small taug and lobsters.  No cod seen on the wreck.  Though the bottom was chilly, we're excited about the upcoming diving season that's underway! Let's go diving!

Private Charter Trip: 2-7pm. The seas were 2-3 ft with winds coming out of the SE.  We anchored up for some wreck fishing off of Atlantic City. During the afternoon we caught roughly 12 cod between 17-20", 12-5 seabass between 9-18" and 5 taug between 10-20".  The fishing was good and the bite was steady.  Too bad cod was short (min of 21") and that seabass and taug are closed :( Overall it was a great day of fishing! Keeper cod are still around but are in deeper waters. Let's go fishing!
